Once upon a midnight dreary, Inoob, pdbq, and myself had a dream. That dream was that all dogfighters could unite and prove their metal against each other outside of clan lines. That the world of dogfight brings itself together once a month to celebrate the game we love. CTF has its Brawls. Fort has its Ladles. Now we at Insomnia Clan conspire to bring you... Dog Fight Throwdown DF Throwdown will be a monthly 3v3 Loose Dogfight tournament hosted and administered by Rx staff. If all goes according to plan, date and time will be announced 1 month from the tourney. Sign ups will be made available for 3 person teams and alternates with no restrictions. Clan, no clan, fun is the goal. Sign ups will also be made available for referees. Naturally, Rx members will be highly encouraged to participate every month. This will not only help keep DF Throwdown alive, but will also help to bolster Rx activity levels, morale, and reputation. We talked about bringing DF back to life, and what better way than to legitimize the bastard child gametype of the grids?

I can provide a server and we could get it up on the forums / wiki to get some peoples' attention. Also, I don't know how many people use it, but I keep track of tournaments on my site as well, and it can be posted there.
If you go through with this, I will be happy to help ya set everything up. You also need to create a config that will be used on all servers.

Things we need to do. - Make a constant date that wont interfere with any of the other tournys. (Also, a day where most people have free time, preferably the weekends) - Make the Wiki page (Assign who will take care of that every month) - Permissions (Not all Rx should be admins, just a few) That way we have room to make non-rx admins as well. They should be people who play regularly and should be able to show up to some of the tournys to referee a battle. - At least one server to start off with. If people enjoy this when it's up, i can prove the money to host more of them - Advertise once everything is up and running. Here's an example of a Brawl Wiki. wiki.armagetronad.org/index.php/CTF_BRAWLWe should do ours just like it.

I can start making a wiki page sometime this week I think. Dogs of War Throwdown sounds a little ambiguous, maybe call it DF Throwdown so people immediately know what it's about?
As far as dates go, maybe the last Saturday of every month?

Well, people seem to like the idea .. If we got everything together, we could announce it two weeks in advanced for the first one? We should do this. We can have at least two servers, one on Rx and another on mine, and a wiki and forum post wouldn't be hard to get up. Also, lightron.no-ip.org/Tournament for anyone who has trouble keeping track of them.

This all looks great and it'll be something for me to look forward to.. I wouldn't mind signing up to be a "Referee" Just to ref matches because i'm on well at least everyday on grid for 1-2 hours if not more. If there is somewhere specifically i have to sign up at then please tell me .

That's only a draft. Sign ups wont be available until i finish it. I've yet to decide where people can sign up for such a thing.

We also need cool colors for the Server names. Also, leave room for people's trademark. example: Anyone want to come up with cool colors? ps. Let's try and get this done by the end of this month. That way we could announce it at the beginning of April. People will have a bunch of time to sign up. I really think we could get this done.

Should there be different skill levels or leagues you can sign for? A lot of dogfighters are on different levels. There should at least be an effort to keep whatever team even with whatever team. This needs to be fun for everyone if the goal is to breathe some life into dogfight.

It should just be one big tournament. Shuffle the teams and let it be every team for themselves (no seeding).

0x339900Dogfight Throwdown 1 0xffff95(oxffffffnamehere0xffff95) Don't really think we need this though. Ahh, cool. I don't really dig the colors. They're too different. Any more suggestions? And why do you think we don't need this? Here's a little logo/banner thing I was working on: Cool, we can use this for the advertisment. Should there be different skill levels or leagues you can sign for? A lot of dogfighters are on different levels. There should at least be an effort to keep whatever team even with whatever team. This needs to be fun for everyone if the goal is to breathe some life into dogfight. I don't think this is a good idea. I would hate to be on the 'noob' bracket. Having to play against pro's will only encourage people to get better every month. Hopefully there will be a lot of teams signing up. That way the noob teams have better chances of being paired up with other noob teams, sense it will be random.

I'm done with the wiki. Please write down your @forums so that I can mark you guys down as refs( if you're interested)
If you're going to be a ref it is going to be your job to admin battles on tournament days. You will be given commans such as /suspend /lock /unlock /invite /uninvite /unlock_all_teamS, and /lock. It will be your duty to make sure that every point obtained by either teams were legit loose. Don't abuse the power because it will be taken Away even if you're Rx.
