A BEGINNERS GUIDE TO DOGFIGHT
LET ME START BY SAYING THIS: Dog Fight is a *low rubber* Armagetron Advanced game type in which the object is to trap and kill your opponent while using as little *rubber* as humanly possible. This entails setting *clean traps* to catch your opponent while giving them an escape route. Basically, don't touch the walls, k? Some may argue that the point is to have a "good fight" and this is valid though hardly practiced. Most players want to kill you as quickly as possible.
*A NOTE ABOUT RUBBER (IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW)*
Rubber is essentially a way to make up for a difference in server latency between players. For all intents and purposes though, it is the amount of time you have before dying when you hit a wall. The lower the rubber, the less time you have. This can vary from server to server. You can see how much rubber a server has by looking at the rubber meter located at the bottom of your screen. Many elements go into the rubber configuration which means that servers with the same amount of rubber can kill you in different time increments. Keep this in mind and always make sure to test the rubber when you enter a server.
*A NOTE ABOUT TRAPPING*
Trapping is exactly what you think it is, trapping your opponent as a means of killing them. As you advance your skill set your trapping will advance as well. In DF a "clean trap" is a trap that leaves an opening for your opponent to get through (the smaller the better). Do your best to leave your traps open!
*ALSO*
Binding your keys is essential in DF.
