So, idk if living in NYC gives me a certain advantage over normal people when it comes to meeting/knowing famous people, but I've met a few in my day.... so I thought I'd share and see if you guys have any similar stories....
K, to start, Eric Idle from Monty Python made fun of me..... I almost creamed my pants..... I met him at a concert of his. After the show I went to the bathroom to take a piss. I pissed, washed my hands, and walked out..... Lo and behold! There he was! I had to shake his hand... only, I hadn't dried my hands off prior to my exit. I did one of those wipe your hands in your pants things and made my move.... epic fail.... I got a good minute long (hilarious) lecture on how to properly dry your hands. After that I got to chat with Eric Fucking Idle for a few minutes.... awesome......
You ever see the show "Boy Meets World"? Well if you have you might remember a certain bully named "harley". That actor (Danny McNaulty) was a bar tender in my neighborhood in Forest Hills.. My brother was a regular musician there and I would play with him a lot. Danny used to serve me drinks when I was like 15 and he would pay me too!
Ever see the movie "Dan in Real Life"? You remember the young dude that the daughter was in love with? Thats my boy Fillipe. My other brother used to do Mau Thai and BJJ with him and his cousin. He is the man... he was on the shows "Dora the Explorer" and "Blues Clues" but don't make fun of him cause he can probably kick your ass!
Ever see "The Godfather Part 2"? My Grandmothers niece (what she is to me, idk) was in a scene with Al Pacino!
My oldest brother took guitar lessons with Dave Van Ronk until he died... 'nough said...
There is a guy that I play music with every now and then (saw him on tuesday) used to hang out with Frank Zappa....
My father met John Lennon and hung out with Farrah Fawcett in the 70's.... He is also currently engaged in business talks with Eric Claptons Lawyer and fucking Dr. Dre....
I've met all of the living members of the legendary Stax backing band Booker T. and the MG's. You may remember their song "Green Onions" from a million movies (like "The Sandlot"). You may also remember some of them from the movie "The Blues Brothers". They were like half of the band!
A funny one: My father used to run an online radio show called "Ground Zero" hosted by this guy named Clyde Lewis... Clyde was once discussed and interviewed on the show "Penn and Tellers Bullshit". He was actually proud of this..... what a tard.
Ever see the movie "Do the Right Thing"? Remember the old black guy that hits on the old black lady? His son is an insanely good blues musician who I have met on several occasions.
Idk, there are more stories, but I really don't feel like typing anymore....
Part 2 coming soon...
