Things to remember:
* Control the fight:
We sometimes forget the basics of efficient trapping, and get caught up using mad hooks.
Quality & timing > quantity, always.
Every time you do a hook, you loose speed; make the least amount of small turns possible.
That is why tunnels are particularity nice:
When you go back in to tunnel, you grind against more than one wall and you accel much faster. Even if you get into a tunnel and accidentally get behind, you can then pass the opponent again before the exit, because of all the speed, the ability to one turn, and anticipate the opponent a little bit.
* Timing is key:
If you see that you are plugging or stabbing a lot, you're probably trying way too hard to stack your traps and make this lethal bomb. Just slow down and time your traps.
* Control your rubber:
keep an eye on your rubber at all times. know how much room you have for stabbing on escape.
Practice by tracing your opponent's line, without touching.
By doing this, you maintain speed and your rubber doesn't deplete.
* Maintain position closer to rim than your opponents:
Doing this gives you advantage in trapping and protects you from being trapped. Whether mazing or letting your opponent free after a stab, remember to keep ground closer to the rim, it gives you a huge advantage.
* Don't get sloppy with hooks
Hooks are the most popular method of killing, but a half done one is a complete waste of time. Finish them all the way so that they are parallel to the wall and end parallel to the corner.
